I've decided this year, quite unsensibly, to do NaNoWriMo--National Novel Writing Month, where you write a 175-page novel in a month.
Why I decided to do this, is beyond me. And why I decided that it would be a great idea to BLOG about it [more writing! yay!] is even further beyond me.
And to increase the absurdity, I've decided to write the entire novel as World of Warcraft FanFic.
How embarassing.
But here's the method to the madness: For me, the importance is completion. Sure, my WoW Novel won't go anywhere, except perhaps to my Guild if they care to peruse. But that's a good thing. This is about getting something done.
In the words of Karen Tidmarsh, my college dean--the best advice I ever received: "Sometimes, Done Is Good."
If I'm writing about Supermonkey and Shalom, well, then, Done Is Good.
No content expectations, No fear--and a group of people to harangue and encourage me. At least I hope.
